Ministry for Pacific Peoples

Collaboration and Community Empowerment

We are proud to partner with the Ministry for Pacific Peoples (MPP) on community-driven initiatives dedicated to uplifting Pacific communities in Aotearoa. A cornerstone of our collaboration is the Pacific Languages Community Fund, part of a national strategy to retain, revitalise, and celebrate Pacific languages.

About the Fund

  • Purpose: Support Pacific communities in retaining and revitalising their languages through targeted resources and initiatives.

  • Importance: Pacific languages are the heart of our identity, culture, and well-being, essential for the success of Pacific people in New Zealand.

  • Objectives:

    • Raise Value: Elevate the importance of Pacific languages across Aotearoa.

    • Strengthen Pathways: Enhance resources and opportunities for learning Pacific languages.

    • Create Environments: Foster spaces where Pacific languages are spoken, celebrated, and used every day.

Project Highlight: Digital Social Network

We’re developing a private digital network to make learning and using Gagana Samoa accessible, engaging, and culturally meaningful, empowering communities to connect, practice, and celebrate their language together.
